Note: RegTech for Regulators Accelerator (R²A) is now known as the Cambridge SupTech Lab.

We are proud to see the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) API-based prudential reporting initiative featured on the Cambridge SupTech Lab’s Solutions Tracker. This project was co-developed with BSP under the R²A program—funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and fully financed by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors—and it laid important groundwork for modern, API-enabled supervisory reporting.

    Why it matters

    • Supervisors need timely, high-quality data for effective oversight.
    • Traditional reporting workflows were burdened by manual steps and delayed submissions.
    • API-based reporting improves timeliness, accuracy, and automation—allowing BSP to focus on analysis and risk.

    What we built together

    • An API-first prudential reporting approach enabling automated submissions from regulated entities.
    • Built-in validations to reduce errors at the source and minimize rework cycles.
    • A standardized data structure to improve reliability and downstream analytics.
    • Operational gains in processing time, data completeness, and auditability.

    Outcomes and impact

    • Faster, more reliable prudential data flows to BSP.
    • Improved supervisory visibility and data quality.
    • A scalable foundation for additional suptech use cases across the supervisory lifecycle.

    Our contribution

    • Co-design and implementation support for API-based reporting with BSP.
    • Collaboration under the R²A program (now Cambridge SupTech Lab) to pioneer practical, scalable suptech.
    • Knowledge transfer and documentation to help BSP sustain and extend capabilities.

    What’s next

    • Extending the approach to additional data collections, validations, and supervisory tools.
    • Leveraging the same API-first principles for market conduct, AML/CFT, and other regulatory data needs.
    • Continuing collaboration with supervisors and the suptech community on proven, production-grade solutions.
